You sure can, but with correct supervision. Studies show that being physically active while getting chemotherapy has several benefits, but you have to make sure to do it safely!
As much as I wish insurance covered physical activity, at the moment they don’t. Some will give you reimbursements for gym memberships, speak with your insurance company directly.
Yes, and this is one of the most important things I want every survivor to know. Research now shows that carefully progressed resistance training and specific movement patterns can actually REDUCE lymphedema risk and help manage existing symptoms. This isn’t just my opinion, it’s backed by clinical evidence. The days of telling breast cancer survivors to avoid exercise are over.
